Run Melbourne Training Sessions

If you're finding it hard to motivate yourself to get your training into full stride then the Run Melbourne training sessions, presented by Running FIt held during the 12 weeks leading up to The Age Run Melbourne presented by People's Choice will surely get you on the road to a PB.

There will be experienced run leaders on hand at each session to assist you with any questions you have regarding training for Run Melbourne. Staff will remain stationed at Federation Square and Running Fit for the duration of the session to mind your bag while you train, and drinks will be provided after the run.

 Sessions commence from Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

Tuesday evening sessions

Meeting at The Atrium in Federation Square on Flinders Street, opposite the Forum Theatre, you will be guided through a short warm-up by our expert run leaders and then led on training runs tailored to the 5km, 10km and half-marathon events. Be there at 5.45pm for a 6pm session start.

Catering to all ages and abilities, sessions will incorporate several pace groups for beginners/first-timers, as well as for the 5km, 10km and half-marathon distances, with speed work groups also available each week, so anyone can participate.

Running Fit competition

For every training session you attend, one entry will be placed in the draw for you to win a prize valued at $330. Prizes include a men's pack: 1 pair of brooks shoes (up to the value of $220) and $100 worth of Brooks apparel, and a women's pack: 1 pair of brooks shoes (up to the value of $220) and $100 worth of Brooks apparel. Prizes will be drawn at the last training session. So make sure you attend as many sessions as you can! 

Charity of the week

The Tuesday night training sessions are free to all those who have entered Run Melbourne. A $5 fee will apply to all attendees who have not yet registered for Run Melbourne, which will then be given to our Charity of the Week.

 

Wednesday evening and Saturday morning sessions

For those who can’t make Tuesday nights we run every Wednesday night at 6pm and Saturday morning at 9am starting from The Running Fit Store – 170 Queen St Melbourne. Wednesday sessions are designed to help beginners complete their first 5km or 10km event and the Saturday session is a longer run for those looking to do their first half-marathon or better their 10km time.

These sessions are also a great chance for you to get expert advice from the experienced staff at Running Fit on running apparel, using your GPS watch, nutrition and hydration, injury prevention and also to ensure you are wearing the correct footwear leading up to the big race. Male and female shower facilities are also available on site. 

 The Running Fit store is located at 170 Queen St, Melbourne.

Thursday evening sessions

Meeting at 6:15pm at Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre, 626 Waverley Rd, Glen Waverley, these sessions will involve between 4km and 12km of running in total, structured and guided by experienced and qualified coaches. The sessions will cater for all levels of experience. 

Running Fit discounts and giveaways

Running Fit will be at the training sessions on May 14, May 28, June 25 and July 16, They will be offering 15% off all accessories purchased at the session from the Running Fit stands. They will also be providing free shoe analysis at these sessions by getting you to jump on the treadmill to see if you are wearing the right runners.
